Beth Bryant ~ I Am Yours
“I am yours” is a confession we can make to God, but first it is a promise He made to us. He created us for fellowship with Him, to be loved by Him and to love Him in return. Rebellion disrupted the relationship, but God persisted in His intention to be our God and for us to be His people. Thus Old Testament covenants and promises led to the ultimate expression of a constant, divine purpose. When Jesus died on the cross, God was offering Himself to us, to be our Savior. Now, in resurrected power, Jesus offers to indwell and renew us by the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. “I am yours”, He says to everyone who trusts Him. And everyone who trusts Him says to Him, “I am Yours.”
Each time we pray or take part in genuine worship, we affirm our relationship with God. We receive what He offers, and we offer ourselves to Him. Holy Communion — the inspiration for many of these songs — brings a unique, tangible way to hear God say yet again, “I am yours. My life is yours. My love is yours. My home is yours. My joy is yours.”
Again, as often as we participate is communion or other acts of worship, we can say, “Thank You, Lord, and I am Yours.”
We pray that these songs of worship and communion will provide you many such opportunities. Hear the Lord say to you, “I am yours.” Let your heart and voice reply, “I am Yours.”
